A Commission Finished and a Pattern on the Way
It was lovely to meet so many of you at the Kendal Wool Gathering last week. Its been busy week and I've finished a commission to knit a pair of fingerless gloves with a treble clef and a sharp and a matching head band with a sharp. They are knitted in West Yorkshire Yarn Spinners Blue Faced Leicester Aran in the shade Aubergine.
The pattern for the Sheep slippers for a baby is on its way. I'm knitting another pair to make sure I know the correct weight of yarn to put on the pattern. It will be ready in the next 7 days to download.

The Online Store is Now Open
The Bensonsrags online store is now open for business with a range of original and vintage patterns for sale. There are two other categories in the store, knitted products and accessories - these areas will be stocked in the near future.
Purchasing from the website is safe and secure. You may have noticed the "StopTheHacker" seal on the sidebar. This means that the entire site is scanned every day by StopTheHacker to ensure that the site is safe for our customers. The date in the box and the green tick show the date the site was scanned and that the site is safe to use.
The website also uses SSL to encrypt all communications with the website, not just the online store, so third parties cannot eavesdrop on customer activity. The SSL certificate is verified by the padlock and "https" in the web browser address bar (both are shown in green in Google Chrome). The padlock can be clicked to verify the site identity and show that the SSL certificate is valid.
The combination of SSL and "StopTheHacker" makes the website very secure, safe to browse, and allows customers to buy with confidence.

A New Hat - My Latest Project
Its the first day of March and large snowflakes are fluttering past the window. I was thinking the other day that I might start knitting a summer jumper, but looking out of the window today, it could be a new pair of gloves.
Here is a photograph of my daughter in her new hat which I'm assured is very comfortable. Its knitted in 100% Peruvian wool brought by a friend from the USA.
Its knitted from a pattern featured in a People's Friend magazine. The colours in the magazine were green and 2 shades of yellow with an ecru crown. I changed the colours to the purple and lilacs shown. My daughters favourite colours.
In the past, I've had problems with my fingers and hands aching when I've been knitting. A few years ago, I bought a magazine which had a pair of bamboo needles on the front. I tried using them and my hands were fine. I now always knit with bamboo needles. I've also found that knitting with natural fibre yarns is easier. The wool yarn slips more easily on the needles and knitting is more pleasurable.
Last week, I was thinking of starting to knit a lacy jumper in cotton yarn. As the snow covers the ground outside, I'm no so sure.
