An original knitting pattern for a lacy beanie hat from Bensonsrags.
In winter, I find I need to wear a hat but my head soon gets too hot. This beanie keeps my head warm but not too warm. I also find slouchy beanies end up falling over my eyes which is the reason it is designed close fitting.
I like using British wool yarn. The hat shown was knitted using West Yorkshire Yarn Spinners (WYS) Blue faced Leicester Double Knitting yarn which is lovely and soft.
The pattern is one size and fits 56 cm head circumference.
The depth from the centre of the crown to the edge of the beanie is 17 cm. If you would like a deeper beanie you can repeat the first lace pattern.
The hat is requires one 50g ball of WYS Blue faced Leicester DK yarn or one hank which is 100g of Ecru (WYS) Double Knit yarn
One pair of 4mm needles
This pattern is part of the Joanna Collection named after a friend who is a free spirit. She was a major part of the Drop the Debt campaign and dresses in clothes made from Natural fibres which are made to last. A range of accessories made from British wool named after Joanna seemed a natural step.
Don't be frightened by the lace pattern. Once you get started, you can see if you have made a mistake by the positioning of the holes forming the lace.
